Times up for your Spud in a Bucket

How are those potatoes going? It’s the last weekend for watering and bestowing lots of tender loving care on your potatoes. The Annual Woodstock School Potato Growing Competition is Tues 13 Dec. Please bring your buckets in on Tuesday morning to your classroom and we’ll see who as the biggest and the most potatoes.

Meet our new Scarecrow "Sticky"

As part of Room 15's technology unit 'Making Plastic Fantastic" these clever boys reused milk bottles to make this wonderful scarecrow for our garden. His name is 'Sticky"  He will make a wonderful addition to Vegie Heaven

Gardening Goodies

Mrs Avis Leeson kindly donated these healthy looking cabbage trees for our new school entrance garden.
  







Thanks to all those families who kindly donated McCain Veggies barcodes. We won a watering can, gardening gloves, packets of seeds, netting for our strawberries, plant labels and a sack

Another successful Vegie Stall

In our most recent vegie stall, we sold silverbeet, cabbage, celery, parsley, rhubarb and worm wee.  Thanks to everyone who came and made our stall a success.

Room 4 plant a Kauri Tree

A big thank you to Room 4's teacher Mrs Addison who donated a Kauri tree for our hill area.  Her class helped plant the tree, which will provide great shade for children using the slide.

More Vegies ready to sell

Vegie Heaven is looking amazing at the moment.  We have all sorts of different vegetables just about ready to pick.  Look out for our next vegie stall coming up next week.

Potato Growers - Ready, Set, Grow

Children today got given their seed potato for our Spud in a Bucket competition.  I wonder who can grow the biggest and the most potatoes in their bucket.

Bring 50 cents and this will get you a spud and instructions on what you need to do…

Put coin in a named envelope in a the slot in the office by Thursday 27 October

Bring your bucket to school on the 27th and you’ll plant your spud at school with Rod and then take it home , LOOK after it then bring it all back to school on Tuesday 13th December

Find out who has the most SPUDS under the soil.  (Don’t peek ‘till then.)

You will need to reuse last years bucket or supply a new one.

Our Mural Takes Shape

After lots of hard work from the Enviro Agents our mural beside Vegie Heaven (our school vegetable garden) is taking shape.  As you can see it looks great - and hopefully it will help our vegies grow even bigger.

McCain School Veggie Patch Competition

Mr. Barnsdall, our school caretaker, has entered our school into the McCain School Veggie Patch Competition. If you use any McCain frozen vegetables, or Purely Potatoes, we would very much appreciate you sending the bar codes from these products packaging along to school with your child/children. There will be a collection point in each class room from which Mr. Barnsdall will collect the bar codes on a weekly basis and we have a chart in reception that will show classroom progress. The bar codes are then sent back to McCain Head Office and are redeemable for garden purchases from Mitre 10:
35 points = veggie seeds
35 points = plant identifiers
75 points = hessian bags to grow potatoes
150 points = organic compost
175 points = fertiliser
90 points = sheep pellets
900 points = digging essential set (includes hoe & spade)
555 points = mini patch kits
1485 points = veggie patch starter pack kits- every thing we need to build our veggie patch
